Contribution
over Offsetting?!
An Update for the Economy. An Answer to Compensation.

Expense of Others
These costs arise when organizations, for example through CO2 emissions, contribute to the climate crisis but do not cover the damages (like droughts and food scarcity) themselves. People—elsewhere, today, and in the future—have to bear these costs.
Synonyms:
external, “true” costs, societal/socio-ecological costs
84%
of CO2 compensations are ineffective!*
What could a credible alternative look like for organizations in an economy that functions at the expense of others ?
*Max-Planck-Gesellschaft, 2024
With ourShare, organizations take responsibility for external costs and invest in their own regenerative transformation - and that of society!
Without greenwashing. Systemically effective. In community.
How it works!

These organizations are supported by ourShare
Instead of a “climate neutral” promise, ourShare anchors responsibility financially and makes a transparent and systemic contribution to solving the climate crisis!

to solve the climate crisis
Update for the economy:
Include external costs in pricing!
Based on your carbon footprint, we calculate your social climate costs and develop scenarios for how you can price these in.
This results in your budget for sustainable transformation.
Answer to offsetting:
Invest in change!
The budget from step 1 is primarily used to reduce CO2 emissions from your own business model.
What you cannot sensibly reinvest is your contribution to social transformation and goes into projects to tackle the climate crisis - its causes and consequences - at a systemic level.
What customers say...
"For years, we have felt uncomfortable with traditional CO2 offsetting.
ourShare creates an authentic, systemic approach, and we are proud to be among the pioneers who are pricing in their climate costs!"

Why is it worth it?
Take action with ourShare!
Surveys show that companies lack direction for their commitment (Phineo 2025). Instead of hundreds of sustainability indicators and big promises for the future, ourShare reduces complexity to key issues - while remaining ambitious.
The cost-based approach helps to provide funds for your own transformation and that of society. Responsibility is anchored in business logic - in finance.
HI!
HI!
The vision of ourShare:
A solidarity-based network of organizations.
The individual contributions become the collective contribution of many - that's ourShare!
Whether it's a loss of revenue or a lack of resources for sustainability projects, taking responsibility is often a financial burden until the political framework is in place. ourShare creates a solidarity network of organizations that support each other financially.
Solving problems with products and services - sure! But at the expense of others?
That's why we need ourShare.
Our economy needs an update!
Because it cannot enable a good life for everyone as long as it functions at the expense of others!
ourShare invites you to embrace this ambivalence—and actively work with it! With honesty, courage, ambition, and a willingness to experiment. As a response to compensation and as a building block for tomorrow's economy!

ourShare was developed and initiated by Maik Birnbach. Maik is a consultant for regenerative organizations and was involved in sustainability and strategy at einhorn for many years. ourShare arose from the question of what contribution companies can make to sustainable transformation - and the feeling that compensation does not do justice to this responsibility.
